How to Safely Use a Portable Generator

2/23/2016 (Permalink)

Carbon Monoxide Hazard

With the recent tragedy in Fenton Township, where a family of six were victims of carbon monoxide poisoning from the use of a portable generator, SERVPRO of Rochester wants to help keep your family safe during a power outage.  A portable generator can be a powerful tool during a power outage or natural disaster, but it can also be dangerous -- even deadly -- if not properly installed and operated. On average, 75 people are killed in the United States each year by carbon monoxide associated with the use of generators. Make sure you know how to use generators safely before you put yourself -- and your loved ones -- at risk.
